26 Days To Go!

Our Story

After narrowly avoiding crossing paths during the period of Heather’s 40th birthday, while Aidan was in San Francisco singing for a wedding, fate decided to throw this happy couple another chance at meeting….

January 2020

As part of Heather’s ambition to step foot on all 7 continents, she booked a cruise with her Mom to Antarctica. Little did she know when she arrived on board the Silver Cloud, ready to depart for the coldest, harshest and most remote destination in the world, that this was just the tip of the iceberg!

It was there that she met Aidan – a handsome, talented young singer and guitarist, with a sexy accent! After spending a week together on the ship, it became clear to both Aidan & Heather that they were already started on a path that would lead them towards a future together. And with the ever growing awareness of the coronavirus around the world, it didn’t take long for that future to come to them.

After travelling back and forth to see each other between England & America, Aidan became a victim of the flight cancellations and travel nightmares that were unfolding around the world. Having arrived in San Francisco to stay with Heather, and been put straight into a major quarantine and lockdown, they faced a make or break situation together. Could this new couple survive being locked indoors, 24 hours a day, with the bare minimum of toilet paper available, for the next 3 weeks?

Well, the weeks passed with lots of laughter, love and exceptionally high Yahtzee scores (from Heather of course!) and Aidan extended his flight dates to allow more time together. But there was a ticking time bomb going off silently in the background……

With Aidan approaching the maximum number of days allowed in the US on one visit (90 days!), normally he would have flown home, spent a week back home, and then come back and spent more time with Heather. But Covid’s cruel twist of the plot, was that now there was no more air travel allowed between the UK & America. After consulting with immigration lawyers, they had 2 options available – Either Aidan goes home but wouldn’t be able to return to the US for an unknown amount of time (which the travel ban is still in effect as this is written!), or they get married. In which case Aidan could then legally stay here and they could continue to build their relationship.

After a lot of discussion, they both agreed with the mantra that ‘It’s better to regret something you did do, rather than something you didn’t’. Sure, it was happening fast, but sometimes in life, you get dealt an unusual hand. And those are the most fun to play with! So on May 21st ,2020, Aidan & Heather became Husband and Wife!!!!

The decision was made that they would have a ‘proper’ wedding once the covid situation had settled, and Aidan’s daughter Olivia, along with his family and friends, would be able to travel and join them. So they signed all of the legal nuptials, and began their life together. And while they wait patiently for the world to return to normal, they are busy planning what will undoubtedly be one of the most extraordinary and fantastic wedding celebrations ever!

Aidan & Heather would like to thank everyone who has played a part in making this story happen, but with special mentions to their Mum/Moms and closest friends, for all their love and support during this time. It’s been a year filled with new experiences and challenges for them both, with Heather buying her first house, Aidan moving to the USA and both of them dealing with all the issues that covid has thrown up, along with immigration. But they’ve faced it all together and will hopefully continue to do so for many years to come!
